Los Angeles home prices may level off in coming months, new reports suggested by CoreLogic.
Analysis
The cost of buying a house in Los Angeles County has never been higher, but a more recent analysis shows that the number of homes on the market with price cuts is slightly up since the beginning of the year. These are not drastic price cuts, but we may see the housing market reconcile itself to return toward a usual trend. This would be when values steady and not every listed property is receiving offers over listed price. Those homes receiving over listed price would be a turnkey property, or base on a specialty property, luxury or location.
This past June, it was also reported by CoreLogic that sellers slashed prices on 14.1 percent of homes in Los Angeles and Orange counties, up from 11.1 percent in January. The median value of those reductions was 2.6 percent of the original listing price. There is no argument which the housing market is slowing, and don’t be surprised if we see homes in Southern California drop prices in the next several months.
